Referendum

"A Sharp Pencil In Firm Hands Could Eliminate The K.P.B. Budget Crisis Without New Taxes!"

The people may approve or reject acts

of the Borough Assembly by Referendum

The process of a referendum is similar to an initiative except that a referendum, if approved by voters, repeals a specific action taken by the assembly.  It is an important part of the "checks & balance" of government that should only be used when necessary.

The Alaska State Constitution and State Statutes clearly outline the reasons, procedures, and limitations of a referendum.

Index of Referendums filed by ACT:

Repeal Ordinance 2005-09 Sales Tax Increase - ACT XX - June 28, 2005  CERTIFIED by Borough Clerk and will be on the October 2006 Ballot.

The Sturman Referendum - ACT I - February 28, 2005
