"A Sharp
Pencil In Firm Hands Could
Eliminate The K.P.B. Budget Crisis Without New Taxes!"
BOROUGH ELECTIONS ARE COMING AND WE ASKED THE HARD QUESTIONS...
The municipal elections will be held on October 7, 2008. In order for voters to make informed decisions on election day,
the Alliance of Concerned Taxpayers generated three lists of questions for those seeking office. One list for Borough
WE ARE THE BOROUGH GOVERNMENT AND WE ARE HERE TO HELP...
A.C.T. DOES NOT BELIEVE THE KPB SHOULD IGNORE ELECTIONS
AND IS DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT !
After a long delay and deadline extension, KPB FINALLY responds to A.C.T.
A.C.T. attorney files answer to borough.
A.C.T. LAWSUITS IN DEFENSE OF BOROUGH CITIZENS' RIGHTS
PROGRESS THROUGH THE KENAI SUPERIOR COURT !
The
Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) has asked a Kenai Superior
Court judge to declare term-limit initiatives passed by
voters in October invalid and unconstitutional.
Court
papers filed January 9 seek a summary judgment in a
lawsuit filed in October by the grassroots group
Alliance of Concerned Taxpayers, or ACT, sponsors of a
pair of propositions on the Oct. 2 ballot setting term
limits for borough assembly and school board seats.
Here
is the KPB
answer and counterclaim, which is followed by their
motion for summary judgment and
memorandum in support of motion for summary judgment.
It should be obvious to everyone the KPB is spending a
lot of our tax dollars in support of their own.
We
have confidence that the court will uphold term limits,
and should support and force the borough to recognize
the ballot initiatives already won through the efforts
of A.C.T. volunteers and approved by voters.
The
proposed ACT-CAP initiative litigation is the final step
in the process to force our Borough to recognize the
rights of citizens to have the FINAL say in budget
increases, which affect the tax burden of every citizen
in the Kenai Peninsula.
Alaskan law supports YOUR right to place a reasonable
CAP on Borough spending. This is done in Anchorage and
Fairbanks. Together, we can do it here within the Kenai
Peninsula Borough! For additional information
